Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Emergency Health Services is required and must be from a North American institution NOTE: Degree cannot be online or distance education
Completion of a Paramedic Program from the US or Canada which meets the guidelines established by the United States Department of Transportation or equivalent
Current, active Registration as a Paramedic
Minimum of 6 years current experience as a Paramedic with ACLS, PALS and NRP certification, of which 2 years are in a supervisor role within a mid- to large-sized North American acute care hospital
A strong background in policy and training as well as healthcare management is preferred
Departmental management experience is preferred over field management experience

As part of the Medical team onboard, you will provide high standards of both in-patient and out-patient medical care, for both passengers and crew. With broad experience and proven proficiency in emergency medicine, you will be expected to manage acute cardiac and medical emergencies, major and minor trauma, have experience of intubation and airway management and some general practice. The actual skills that we require are competent management of cardiology cases, both urgent and outpatient, the ability to lead a cardiac arrest team, the ability to reduce common fractures and dislocations, good airway skills (including intubation and laryngeal masks), sufficient anaesthetic knowledge to perform conscious sedation and to do a rapid sequence intubation as well as the ability to deal with general practice presentations including paediatrics, gynae and family planning.

Reporting to the Senior Doctor, you will be part of a small team, offering 24 hour/7 days a week cover for all onboard. Medical teams vary in size between one doctor and two nurses, to two doctors and five nurses, and the medical centres are fully equipped with inpatient beds, a critical care ward, consulting rooms, and X-ray room, emergency room, treatment room, laboratory and dispensary.
Job Requirements:

You should be a Doctor with at least 3 years post registration experience in Acute Care.
You will be currently registered with the GMC or an appropriate Governmental regulatory body.

Paramedics - Expressions of Interest

Expression of interest is sought from qualified Paramedics with a Diploma or Bachelors degree in Paramedic Science, or equivalent. Min 2 years of experience as Paramedic and up to date Continued Medical Education is required.

The Health Authority Abu Dhabi sets the standard that defines the specific categories of healthcare professions exempted from the HAAD examination for licensure, in accordance with the ‘competent authority’ cross recognition model. It also details the HAAD approved criteria for determining the eligibility of applicants for exemption from the HAAD examination when applying for a HAAD license to practice in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Applicants from the following countries who are able to comply with the following criteria will be exempt from the examination process. However, they must be able to provide documentary evidence of the following:

A. Country Equivalency registration

Australia

Diploma or Bachelor degree in Health Science, Paramedic Science, Emergency Health, or dual degree such as Bachelor of Paramedic Science, Bachelor of Nursing.

One year internship.

Canada

Advanced Care Paramedic plus registration with a professional college.

Ireland

Advanced Paramedic level plus annual registration with the Pre-hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).

New Zealand

Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Health Science, Paramedic Science, Emergency Health, or dual degree such as Bachelor of Paramedic Science, Bachelor of Nursing.

One year internship.

South Africa

Registration with South African Health Professionals Council (HPCSA) as Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP).

UK

Registration with Health Professions Council (HPC).

USA

Advanced EMT – Paramedic.

Certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

License where applicable.

B. Equivalence

In order to gain equivalence, applicants must:

a. Have an active and unrestricted license from the issuing authority upon HAAD licensure application.

b. Be in good standing status with clear disciplinary record.

Job Description:
•To provide an excellent level of primary care to all crew members.
•Discuss all significant medical cases with the Topside doctor and if necessary summon emergency medical support and prepare personnel for evacuation.
•Deliver emergency and primary stabilisation and treatment of all accidents and illnesses.
•Ensure an effective response in emergency situations by providing appropriate training for emergency teams and first aiders.
•Co-ordinate and supervise the first aid teams during medical and operational emergencies.
•Ensure and maintain records that demonstrate this that the Medical Emergency Response Team are up to date with their first aid training and have a full understanding of the equipment they may be required to use.
•Provide handover notes at crew change.

Candidate must hold a Brazilian visa that is not company specific.
