Medic

Are you interested in gaining a medical qualification while helping personnel both on the ground and in the air? Medic might be the job for you.


As a Medic, you will be posted to a Base medical unit where you will help with daily duties including treating personnel with illness or injury, medical administration, minor surgery and medical cover for Base sports events. As you gain medical knowledge and experience, you will help supervise and teach more junior medics and be involved in taking first aid courses.


You will provide medical support for field exercises and be ready to provide emergency medical care in the event of an incident on the ground or in the air. Your role will also include operational duties, supporting New Zealand Defence Force missions, principally by helping maintain optimum health among deployed personnel. You may also be involved in humanitarian aid such as cyclone relief or the medical evacuation of personnel from abroad back to New Zealand.



You'll need:

To be at least 17 years old
A proven ability in English, Maths and a Science subject - all at Level 1
A good standard of fitness
NZ permanent residency required (NZ Citizenship preferred)
