JOB SUMMARY:
The following information outlines the minimum requirements for a Total Safety Remote Paramedic. It is assumed that Total Safety remote paramedics will continuously improve their knowledge and skill levels through continuing education and further study.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain National Registry of EMTs - Paramedic level certification
Maintain state of residence Paramedic level certification
Maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Maintain current certification in Advanced cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Maintain current certification in Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS)
Pre-Hospital Life Support (PHTLS) also acceptable
TRAINING:
Satisfactory completion of Advanced Clinical Skills Program (50 hours), which includes training and proficiency in:
Clinical assessment
Diagnostic techniques
Minor wound management
Simple suturing and wound debridement
Antibiotic therapy
Otolaryngology (assessment/conditions/treatment)
Ophthalmology (assessment/conditions/treatment)
Upper respiratory disorders and treatment
Gastrointestinal disorders and treatment
Paralytic drugs and therapy
Barotrauma
Flight physiology
12-lead EKG interpretation
Thrombolytic therapy
Central venous line placement
Advanced venous access to include venous "cut-downs"
Advanced pharmacology
Chest tube placement
"Tropical" disease medicine
Snake bite recognition and treatment
Operational training to meet the requirements of OSHA, MMS, and the U.S. Coast Guard requirements, to include:
HAZWOPER Awareness
HAZCOM
Hearing Conservation
Electrical Safety
Lock Out / Tag Out
Blood-borne Pathogens
Confined Space Awareness
Respiratory Protection
H2S Awareness
Personal Protective Equipment
Fire Safety
Personal Fall Protection
EXPERIENCE:
Paramedic must have:
A minimum of 2 years direct advanced life support experience working for an advanced life support EMS service, hospital, or US military.
Certifications as stated above.
Paramedic should have:
Experience in general heavy industry safety programs, implementation, and assessment.
Experience with computers, Word, Excel, Windows, e-mail.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Emergency care of sick and injured personnel on location.
Routine medical care of non-emergency patients on location.
ANCILLARY DUTIES:
Maintain accurate patient records for all patients entering the clinic for emergency or non-emergency care
Maintain medical supply inventory to assure proper levels for patient care
Maintain a current copy of Total Safety Medical Protocols on location
Perform health and hygiene inspections as required by customer
Assist in accident investigation and reporting as required by customer
Advise site supervisor of any trends in medical cases which may indicate food, water or air quality problems
Maintain environmental controls for the prevention/minimization of mosquito and vermin populations
Advise site supervisor on trends in health problems on site
Maintain a safe water supply as required by customer
Be available to consult with supervisory personnel and individual workers concerning malaria control programs, vaccination programs, and general health/medical questions as they arise.
Teach First Aid / CPR classes as needed by site supervisor
Assist in any medical related duties required by site supervisor

Salary is commensurate with experience.
