Position Duties / Responsibilities
NURSE II
Provides and/or monitors the medical and first-aid treatment programs on
projects or facilities. Performs nursing duties in accordance with
medical directives approved by the consulting physician and local
governing agencies.
Licensed Practical/Registered Nurse with two or more years prior
practicing nursing experience, including previous and related experience
in the construction field.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provides and or monitors the medical and first-aid treatment programs
or projects or facilities.
- Performs nursing duties in accordance with medical directives approved
by the consulting physician and local governing agencies.
- Registed nurse with basic life support qualifications and previous and
related constructions experience; as well as certification in
occupational health nursing preferred.
- Work closely with project ESH supervisor.
- Assists with recordkeeping requirements including filing and
monitoring of workers compensation cases.
- Work location is in a field first aid office and not a clinic type
setting.
- Responsible for ordering supplies and ensuring enough supplies are on
hand to provide proper care and treatment.
- Reports to the Safety and Health Manager and administers first aid
treatment to injured or ill personnel and renders subsequent follow up
treatment as needed.
- Evaluates injuries and or illnesses that require the services of a
physician or hospital and makes referrals as necessary.
- Responds to emergency situations and provides treatment accordingly.
- Dispenses medication in accordance with project medical directives.
- Assists in the administering of drug and alcohol programs.
- Estalishes and maintains all first aid/medical records and prepares
related reports as defined in the ESH Field Operations Manual.
- Recommends the purchase of first aid and medical equipment.
- Maintains an inventory of medical supplies and medications as outlined
in the Project Medical Directives.
- Participates with supervisor in medical/first aid personnel planning.
- Supervises and trains the First Aid Rescue Team.
- Successful candidate must be willing to maintain safe work ethic and
work environment and able to work extended work schedules, day, night
and weekends as required.
Basic qualifications:
- Licensed as registered/practical nurse in the state of Illinois or
current liense in a compact state.
- Basic life support qualifications required.
- Knowledge of medical reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
- Skills in verbal and written communications with personnel at all
levels.
- Skilled in handling of emergency situations.
- Experience in working with OCIP workers compensation insurers.
- Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in occupational health nursing, emergency room, intensive
care unit, or coronary care unit.
- Knowledge of establishing and organizing a first aid and emergency
treatment facility.
- Experience in organizing and training first aid rescue teams.
- Previous work experience in construction.
- Previous work on Bechtel project.
Grade 23 - licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with less than 3
years of construction and occupational health experience.
Grade 24 - registered nurse with greater than 5 years of construction
and occupational health experience.
