Medic/ Safety Officer - Maersk FPSOs, UK North Sea, United Kingdom
Due to rotational changes we seek an experienced Medic who has a vested interest in developing a career within a professional safety environment. This position will involve working as a dedicated medic for one week and a dedicated Safety Advisor for the alternative week of a 2:3 rotation.
The general responsibilities of this post are to provide medical treatment and support both operationally and in an emergency, and to assist the OIM with safety, environmental, performance and compliance with the HS&E Management System on the installation.
Specific responsibilities include:
Medic
•Provide first Aid and other medical treatment as and when required utilising where necessary onshore medical specialists and acting on their advice.
•Assist in the investigation and reporting of all near misses, accidents and incidents. Compile appropriate documentation and paperwork and keeping of records.
•Responsible for maintaining an optimum stock of medical and safety equipment
•Maintaining a dangerous drugs record on behalf of the OIM
•Provide training of First Aid teams offshore
•Responsible for heli traffic control and administration and updating of the POB lists, carrying out all safety inductions and maintaining records as necessary.
•Assist the Marine Supervisor and advise on the movement and handling of all hazardous substances. To maintain the require COSHH documentation and administration.
•Monitor the general health of the installation advise the OIM on issues, improvements or campaigns to gain an overall improvement
•Responsible for the occupational health hazard identification, monitoring and management.
•Ensure contractor SMS interfaces are available, understood and followed.
•Input to and monitoring of Health, Safety and Environmental yearly performance targets for Maintenance activities. Monitor against these targets and propose actions to achieve these.
•Regularly review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
Safety Advisor
•Ensure compliance with, and promote onboard awareness of all offshore safety requirements and procedures as well as environmental processes. Carry out site safety inspections and ensure compliance with Permit To Work Systems.
•Work with Crews to enhance safety and environmental standard, participating in toolbox talks, risk assessments, inspections, audits and accident investigations as required.
•Ensure that all works are carried out with due regard to safe operation of practices and company procedures. In the event of near miss/incidents, investigate and propose new procedures.
•Familiarise, train and mentor new and existing employees on unit procedures and HS&E routines
•Provide a professional and informative liaison between the OIM, HSEQ and unit management to develop a first-class safety culture through training initiatives.
•Responsible for the upkeep and management of the accident incident and near miss reporting system. Provide regular reports to the OIM and analyse management.
•Fulfil the allocated responsibilities of the Divisional and Vessel Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
