A coveted FIFO position is now available within our Emergency Services team. This team provides a high quality service to GEMCO operations ensuring services are in place to provide a safe place of work for employees and contractors, response to emergency incidents on Eylandt and compliance with legislation. The Emergency Services Officer role will suit a proactive individual who has experience and knowledge of fire and emergency service processes in the mining industry, including incident command/control, emergency operations and responding to medical treatment cases.
Key areas of responsibility include:
•Provision of effective and efficient emergency services, including prevention, preparedness and response
•Provision of First Aid / Medical treatment
•Response to emergency incidents on Groote Eylandt
•Conducting regular inspection of emergency equipment
•Provision of security to BHP Billiton GEMCO assets
•Assisting in the development of emergency procedures
•Assisting site-wide evacuation training and fire warden training
•Understanding and implementation of BHP Billiton fatal risk control standards
•Providing technical / practical support and services where required
•Liaising with the workforce on Safety related matters to provide advice and support.
The successful applicants must possess:
•A minimum of 2 years practical experience in emergency prevention, preparedness and response activities, preferably in the mining industry
•Experience and appropriate qualifications in: Firefighting, Breathing Apparatus (open circuit), HAZMAT, Road Accident Rescue, Vertical rescue and Confined Space rescue, Occupational First Aid and Resuscitation
•Certificate II in Security
•Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and/or Paramedic qualifications would be advantageous.

This is a Fly In Fly Out position on a 7 x 7 roster ex. Darwin or Cairns. An attractive salary package will be offered to attract the right candidate, including performance based incentives.
