NEK is currently accepting applications for a Physician’s Assistant for an upcoming contract in VA. The Physician’s Assistant will supplement existing medical care providers during field missions, training operations, and contingency and crisis response missions as well as deliver pre-hospital treatment consistent with Emergency Medical Protocol.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Provide continuing medical education applicable to EMT-Basic, EMT-Paramedic, recertification requirements.
• Provide emergency response and on-site medical support (domestic and international) during emergency operations and training exercises.
• Provision expert medical consultation, research and support services, including training in appropriate basic and advanced emergency medical skills.
• Provision occupationally related medical support.
• Prepare and plan team intrinsic medical support to include formulation of medical operational plans, medical logistics and supplies and maintenance of training and certification records.
• Manage a program incorporating scenario based training within a wide variety of training activities.
• Provide on-site medical support.
• Be prepared to deploy for the purpose of providing medical support within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).
Minimum Qualifications:
• Certification by the National Commission on Accreditation of Physician Assistants, or an alternative determined to be acceptable.
• At least one year of specialized clinical experience in emergency medicine or an equivalent.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Pre Hospital Traumatic Life Support (PHTLS) or an equivalent.
• Eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance.
• A current, permanent, full and unrestricted Physician Assistant License or equivalent authorization to practice in a state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States.
• Experience in operational/deployment medicine as employed in support of military and/or tactical law enforcement operations.
• Must be physically fit to successfully conduct rescue and tactical support operations; to lift casualties, conduct climbing, be hoisted onto helicopters, to fast-rope and rappel from a fixed position or helicopter, participate in physical activities (running, swimming, climbing, jumping, lifting and carrying heavy equipment), to move by foot in rough terrain, to conduct these activities and services under this contract in conditions of extreme hot and cold climates, rough seas, strong currents and mountainous regions at high altitude.
• Experience in preventative medicine (aerospace, occupational, or preventative medicine and public health) is desirable.
