Clinical Surgical Nurse Trainer, Afghanistan

JOB SUMMARY :

Responsible for providing the operating theater staff and head nurse with technical advisory support, operating room nurse and technician training, and for coordinating patient care and nursing service activities in the operating theater consistent with optimum international standards of nursing care and practice through preoperative and postoperative assessment planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Knowledge: Knowledge is mandatory of operating room techniques and management. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required. Baccalaureate in nursing strongly preferred. Training: Completion of an Operating Room (OR) Nursing Course is required. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in operating room assignments is required. Experience must include all phases of operating room technique and management such as preparing operating room units, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting medical doctors during surgery; and conducting instrument and equipment sterilization procedures. NOTE: Time spent completing courses in operating room technique and management is creditable toward experience requirements. At least two years supervisory or charge experience, with experience in OR nursing/technician training and/or in-service education is preferred.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse - Current BLS certification.
- Proficient in planning, coordinating, and reviewing operating room activities and preparing reports on those activities. - Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including patient and family service skills and attitude. - Ability to perform a wide variety of nursing functions in the surgical setting. - Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. - Ability to communicate effectively with staff of all job categories. - Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Knowledge of Dari, Urdu, Hindi an advantage. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. - Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. - Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
