Job Duties/ Responsibilities
Provision of emergency medical care to personnel;
Assume a key tactical role in emergency response in the areas of fire, medical, rescue and dangerous goods situations;
Training of on site emergency response personnel in emergency management techniques;
Operating and maintaining emergency response equipment and fire fighting apparatus;
Conducting inspections of property and equipment for fire hazards and security risks;
Participate in incident investigations as applicable;
Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of emergency response plans;
Participate in the planning and execution of emergency response drills, table top exercises.
Education/ Experience
EMT-A - hold current provincial registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics at the EMT-A level;
EMR - hold current provincial registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics at the EMR level;
Certification in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS);
Valid Alberta Driver's License Class 4 with a clean drivers abstract;
Minimum NFPA 1001 Certification (in the absence of this certification, consideration will be given to candidates will to train to NFPA 1081);
Preference will be given to EMT-A candidates with NFPA 1001;
3-5 years experience as a Firefighter/EMT-A preferred.
