Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Registered Nursing License or Nationally Registered Paramedic License
♦ EXPERIENCE:
o Minimum 6-8 years recent critical care, ICU, ER or flight experience (combination of these preferred).
o Previous military medical experience strongly preferred, but not necessary.
o Remote, austere and hostile medical experience.
o High volume of medical and trauma experience
o Occupational health and preventative medicine experience desirable.
o Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills.
o Strong working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record Software and Microsoft Office software.
o Ability to integrate into a cross-cultural social structure.
o Proven ability to build strong relationships, work well as part of a team, and to incorporate views of other disciplines into his/her work.
o Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities; sound judgment, and high ethical standards.
o Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
o Capacity to work in a variety of cultural settings, complex environment and fragile states.
o Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
♦ REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
o Remote area care requires a unique skill set, techniques and experience. The following skills and
knowledge are required to excel as a Remote Duty Clinician with BCI.
Mass casualty incident command and triage
Rescue operations and hazardous materials awareness
Communication and medical documentation
General principals of pathophysiology
Therapeutic pharmacology
Advanced airway management and ventilation
Patient assessment and physical examination
Clinical diagnostic techniques
Trauma management and treatment modalities to include:
Trauma systems and mechanism of injury
Hemorrhage and shock
Soft tissue injuries
Burns (thermal/chemical/electrical)
Head and facial injuries
Spinal injuries
Thoracic and abdominal trauma
Musculoskeletal injuries
Wound management and special procedures
Medical management and treatment modalities for all body systems:
Pulmonary
Cardiology
Neurology
Endocrinology
Gastroenterology
Urology/Renal
Integumentary/Dermatology
Gynecology / Obstetrics
Otolaryngology
Ophthalmology
♦ OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Occasional emergency care of sick and injured personnel in Theater.
o Routine medical care of non-emergent patients in Theater.
o Interpret, understand, and apply established concepts, principles regulations, policies, procedures and operating guidelines.
o Receive general policy and guidance from Medical Director and or Medical Control and act upon them with minimal supervision.
o Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for all patients entering the clinic for emergency or nonemergency care.
o Maintenance, control and quality review of all statistical data and medical records
o Maintenance, inventory and procurement of medical equipment and supplies as needed for proper clinic operations.
o Perform health and hygiene inspections as required per contracting client.
o Assist in investigation and documentation of records associated with worksite incidents and/or injuries as required per contracting client.
o Record and report any trends in medical cases which may indicate food, water or air quality issues.
o Perform routine medical screenings, employment physicals and immunizations as required per contracting client.
o Serve as Medical liaison to Theater hospitals, clinics and government agencies as needed.
o Serve as Medical Officer and supervisor of all personnel in assigned area of operation.
o Complete performance evaluations of personnel under direct supervision.
