Field Instructor , Antarctica

Function Note:
PAE is currently seeking a Field Instructor to support an exciting new mission in support of the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Operations.

The Field Instructor will:
•Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the Field Safety Training Program at the station during the austral summer, providing field safety support for science groups, military,and other personnel.
•Provide specialized courses for helicopter crews, science groups new to the Antarctic, personnel working on the sea ice, and wintering personnel.
•Provide direct support to science projects, functioning as a deep field safety leader/mountaineer/EMT when deemed necessary.
•Perform hazard evaluation.
•Participates in Search and Rescue as a member of the Primary Team.
Requirement Note:
•BS/BA preferred.
•Valid Drivers license is required.
•Current CPR certification and current Wilderness First Responder certification required.
•A minimum of ten years experience in outdoor education and leadership is required to include at least four years of technical mountaineering and guiding in glaciated alpine environments.
•Search and Rescue experience preferred.
•Extensive experience in glacier mountaineering is essential with demonstrated expedition leadership mandatory.
•Denali level or other big mountain experience preferred.
•Mountain guiding certification in UIAGM, AMGA is preferred.
•A proven ability to work in remote, harsh environmental, as a team player, is critical.
