Job Description
FrontierMEDEX are currently accepting applications from US nationals who are registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Paramedics to provide support to remote site operations in Afghanistan.
Core Duties
Providing escort services as part of Security Liaison Teams to military and contractor personnel operating in the areas of Kabul and Kandahar in Afghanistan in support of the USACE Reconstruction mission.
The EMT-P will be responsible for the delivery of medical emergency and trauma response during escort missions ensuring that all personnel in their party receive the highest standard of care in a mobile unit
Plan and prepare for aero medical evacuation missions in conjunction with the programme leader
Coordinate with operational mission planners for the safe evacuation of the patients from the originating mission to the destination facility.
Maintain medical stores in mobile crash bag, ensuring the timely replenishment and medicines management.
Knowledge & Skills
Good communication skills
Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.
Ability to read maps and navigate
Experience & Education
Current National or State registration as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic with at least three years post graduate experience
Former military background with operational service required
Experience of working in remote field operations in Iraq or Afghanistan
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider certification
Current International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Provider or equivalent certification
Current drivers licence
Experience of using weapons, AK47 or M4 side arms with certification of competence via the military Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Primary duty station(s) are located in Afghanistan.
Place of duty and environmental conditions can be extremely austere, harsh, and work can be performed under hostile conditions.
Pre mobilisation/Contract requirements
· Candidates must complete a 5 day pre-mobilisation training course prior to mobilisation
· Candidates must undertake and pass a comprehensive medical screening prior to commencing employment.
