About this Job
Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, including taking directives from the Health and Safety Coordinators the Health and Safety Technician will play a key role with Safety and Health requirements for the mine site. More specific responsibilities include:
- Promote a positive safety culture that includes active participation with employees and contractors
- Participate in daily safety interactions, including performing safety inspections and auditing to ensure adherence to standards
- Participate in incident investigations and reports as required
- Facilitate safety training and annual reviews of safety and health procedures and programs
- Conduct orientations, orientation tours, safety presentations, risk assessments and job hazard analysis
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene sampling
- Participate in emergency response drills and required training
- Previous experience as a Safety Technician is preferred
- Excellent work ethics and demonstrated record of safety leadership
- Hold a valid PCP-IV license
- Hold a valid class 4 driver’s license
- Mine Rescue certification would be an asset
- Previous experience in conducting safety meetings, audits, presentations, risk assessments, job hazard analysis and incident investigations
- Able to work a rotational work schedule of 2 weeks in x 2 weeks out
- Consent to a pre-employment medical examination which includes a drug & alcohol screening
