Ship's Doctor

Job Description:
As part of the Medical team onboard, you will provide high standards of both in-patient and out-patient medical care, for both passengers and crew. With broad experience and proven proficiency in emergency medicine, you will be expected to manage acute cardiac and medical emergencies, major and minor trauma, have experience of intubation and airway management and some general practice. The actual skills that we require are competent management of cardiology cases, both urgent and outpatient, the ability to lead a cardiac arrest team, the ability to reduce common fractures and dislocations, good airway skills (including intubation and laryngeal masks), sufficient anaesthetic knowledge to perform conscious sedation and to do a rapid sequence intubation as well as the ability to deal with general practice presentations including paediatrics, gynae and family planning.

Reporting to the Senior Doctor, you will be part of a small team, offering 24 hour/7 days a week cover for all onboard. Medical teams vary in size between one doctor and two nurses, to two doctors and five nurses, and the medical centres are fully equipped with inpatient beds, a critical care ward, consulting rooms, and X-ray room, emergency room, treatment room, laboratory and dispensary.
Job Requirements:

You should be a Doctor with at least 3 years post registration experience in Acute Care.
You will be currently registered with the GMC or an appropriate Governmental regulatory body.
You must have a valid accredited ALS/ACLS certificate prior to joining a vessel.
You must be eligible for issue of a United States C1D Visa.
You will be fluent in English
You should be committed to complete at least 2 four month contracts within a 12 month period.
