Remote Search & Rescue Paramedic
The RSR Paramedic is
member of the RSR team providing rescue services in remote locations in
order to minimize the loss of life and United Nations Property. The
candidate will be required to perform advanced life support treatment to
casualties in remote areas and extraction of casualties, and body
recovery on land or water. The Paramedic will be
required to administer
pharmaceutical drugs independently, inclusive of narcotic drugs. Perform
triage during emergencies. Inspect and ensure that all medical drugs
are accounted for. Ensure that all RSR personnel have completed the
emergency medical core training in accordance with NFPA 1582. Must be
physical fit and participate in physical exercise training sessions. The
RSR Team will be required to perform ECR duties when not activated for
RSR duties.
Requirement Note:
The RSR Paramedic
must be in possession of a valid professional license as Paramedic and
be a registered member of the medical council in his / her Country of
Origin. Administer drugs independently. The candidate must be rescue
diver. Have the ability to operate independently and make sound
decisions. Valid driver’s License. Experience in field medical
conditions will be an advantage. Have excellent oral and communication
skills in English. (French will be an advantage) Good computer skills
(Microsoft Word and Excel). Must be able to work in austere conditions
in Africa.
Mandatory: Certified in ALS (Advanced Life Support).
AED (Automated External Defibrillator). ECG (Electro Cardio Gram). ACLS
(Advanced Cardio Life Support).
The candidate must be rescue
diver. Valid professional license as Paramedic and be a registered
member of the medical council in his / her Country of Origin. Have the
ability to operate independently. Basic High angle rope rescue
operations. Valid vehicle driver’s license.
Desirable:
Emergency Room experience, Experience in “Dive Sickness” and
emergencies, Experience in field medical conditions, Knowledge of
helicopter hoisting will be an advantage.
