Job Description

refugees and internally displaced people all over

DRC programme components include support to
Afghan communities through Protection,
Livelihood, Demining and Armed Violence
Reduction. DRC has a long-term view to its
programming in Afghanistan and expects to
grow significantly in a relatively short period.
The current DRC projects are funded by
international recognised donors such as
DANIDA, SIDA, EU, various UN agencies as well
as by DRC own funds among others. DRC

transparency and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities
Position's Overall Objective
The Emergency Response Officer is responsible
for implementing DRC Afghanistan's emergency
response project activities. A key member of our
regional programme teams, the Emergency
Response Officer needs to combine her/his
experience of emergency response
programming with good assessment and
monitoring capabilities in order to meet the
project objectives. The Emergency Response
Officer works closely with the Community
Mobilizers to ensure integration of activities. S/
he reports to the Deputy Area Manager.

Qualification
•Secondary education as a minimum, higher
education preferred in development or related
social science;
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience for
a humanitarian organisation;

Skills and Experience
• Good understanding of displacement issues of
both internally displaced and refugees
• Good experience of working directly with
Afghan communities and local authorities;
• Experience of implementing emergency
response projects;
• Monitoring and evaluation experience and/or
experience of survey and assessment work;
• Good communications skills;
• Good written and spoken English;
• Solid computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
and report writing ability
