Job Introduction:
The
clinic is located in the Iraq International Airport within the secure
zone. The Med Ops & Trg Manager will sit within the operation at
headquarters level where they will support all AvSec projects, in
addition to acting as medical advisor and advocate to the Project
Director and on all medical matters.
The core purpose of the Med
Ops & Trg Manager is for the provision of primary health care,
medical resources and medical training to enable and support the
operational performance of G4S SSI. Based at the Iraq International
Airport the incumbent must be willing and able to carry out work in
other G4S SSI business locations, as required.
G4S
is responsible for the physical security of Iraq International Airport
and its environs. The environment varies from high intensity population
areas such as the main checkpoint and the Airport Terminal to more open
environments such as perimeter and airside patrolling.
The
physical threat is manifested through random mortar, rocket and small
arms fire to the implicit threat of VBIED, suicide attack or the
smuggling of explosives and sabotage.
The operational tasking
required meeting the needs of the environment and the security threat
results in a flexible, multi-talented Category 1 work force. This work
force forms the nucleus of past performance and experience together with
the backbone of the project.
Life support will be provided in a
camp environment including port-a-cabin accommodation, dining facility,
laundry and welfare facilities. Internet and telecommunications may be
limited due to the environmental conditions in Iraq.
Role Responsibility:
Responsible
for the induction, and on-going medical training of G4S SSI personnel
and clients, in close liaison with the Director Medical Service’s
direction, and the maintenance of up-to-date records.
Responsible
for providing medical guidance on all matters relating to illness and
injury, public health or environment and hygiene issues, supported by
the Clinical Director, if appropriate.
Responsible for the
administration of the Medical Clinic within their area of
responsibility, including medical surveillance statistics and
maintaining up-to-date records.
Work within the guidelines of
any relevant governing bodies Code of Professional Conduct and the
direction promulgated by the G4S Clinical Governance Committee.
Responsible
for the management and development of medical equipment and medicines,
including identifying the procurement and supply chain.
Responsible
for the provision of clinical services to all G4S SSI employees,
including G4S SSI clients and Contractors, as required or directed by
G4S SSI management, including induction medicals and conducting random
drug and alcohol testing.
Responsible for the provision of emergency trauma life support and identification of appropriate further care.
Responsible
for liaison and co-ordination within G4S SSI, and externally with other
interested agencies, in respect of the repatriation of the ill, injured
or deceased, in conjunction with the Administration and Human Resource
Manager.
Responsible for the medical interface and liaison
between the remainder of G4S SSI medical assets in the Middle East, to
ensure that a holistic and symbiotic communication approach to medicine
is achieved.
Provide input into emergency contingency planning and the development of Standard Operating Instructions / Procedures
Be
actively involved in professional development and maintain a
professional profile in accordance with any relevant governing body
mandate.
Maintain a current professional registration (i.e. NMC, HPC).
Deputise for the Clinic Manager whilst this post is vacant on leave
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential:
Adult teaching experience, City & Guilds 7302/7303 (or equivalent).
Display a thorough understanding of the nuances of working in a high threat environment.
Proven administrative ability and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
Proven experience working as an independent medical practitioner.
Posses in date certificates in trauma / critical care management (PHTLS, ILS etc).
Fluent in English.
Desirable:
Remote experience such as Iraq/Afghanistan experience.
City & Guilds 1886 Conflict Resolution (or equivalent).
Proven management and leadership skills in a multi-cultural environment.
The ability to work unsupervised, in a fast paced team environment.
Be able to follow instructions.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Good client liaison skills.
