Description Position Summary:
Supervises and manages Emergency Medical Services System, orders and maintains supplies and assures Quality Control of EMS services. Provides advanced life support care to patients. Transports
and transfers patients as well as assesses the extent of an illness or injury to establish and prioritizes follow up medical procedures. Applies artificial respiration or administers oxygen in cases of suffocation and asphyxiation, starts and administers intravenous fluids, and performs other emergency medical procedures during transport. Must be NREMT-P, ACLS and CPR certified. Must also hold ACLS and CPR Instructor certification. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Supervises and Manages Paramedic Leads, EMT-Ps and EMT-Bs throughout the Area of Record, including but not limited to disciplinary action.
2. Maintains vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceable ready-response condition.
3. Responds to emergencies as required. Administers medical services for patient care within the scope of their training.
4. Provides oversight, and as needed will, create, maintain, and address issues regarding shift schedules.
5. Conducts recurrent proficiency training and OJT.
6. Instructs base populous and F&ES members in regards to medical classes.
7. Evaluates F&ES medical skills and abilities.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the GWU-MFA Management

Education:
Associates Degree is required; Bachelors is preferred

Experience:
Requires registration at an EMT-P level with the National Registry and 2-3 years of related Management/Administrative experience. Must be ACLS and CPR instructor certified

Supervision Received:
Reports to EMS Manager.

Supervision Exercised:
Supervision exercised over Lead Paramedic and other Paramedics.

Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.

Lift and carry a minimum of 45 lb and be able to collectively lift, carry, and balance patients who weigh in excess of 100lbs. Pull and reach with both hands, crawl, kneel, bend and climb, work outdoors in excessive heat or cold, high humidity or dry atmospheric conditions, equipment and knowledge necessary to protect against excessive noise, dust, fumes, smoke, or chemicals. Equipment and knowledge necessary to protect oneself against radiation and infectious diseases. Knowledge necessary to work around machinery with moving parts.

Material and Equipment Directly Used:
Operates specialized vehicles/equipment.

Typical Mental Demands:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the MFA.
