Location: Papua New Guinea 
Support St Mary’s Hospital to provide health services that meet the need of residents in East New Britain.

The doctor will provide support to staff at the hospital through the provision of clinical services in their area of speciality as well as general practice and will need to be available for on-call duty two nights a week. The volunteer work with staff and patients with new health programme to ensure that patients are better informed. The doctor will train and mentor current staff and nursing students and will contribute to the learning environments at the hospital. The volunteer will travel from time to time to rural health clinics to provide clinical services and provide on the job training to staff where required.

For this role we are seeking
• A qualified, registered doctor with an understanding of the health problems of people living in a developing nation
• Specialist qualifications in general practice, surgery, medicine, paediatrics or tropical medicine, depending on which position is being applied for
• Understanding of the challenges of working in a hospital and/or clinic with limited access to facilities, equipment and treatment options
• Experience tutoring student medical professionals
• Experience working in a team with other doctors and nurses

This assignment is based in Honiara for a period of one year, with the option to extend to two years by mutual agreement.
