Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
MdM’s Turkey / Syria mission officially opened in July 2012 and gradually grew around three main objectives:
-Provision of primary health care services and basic reproductive health services to displaced and vulnerable population through direct implemented activities in northern Syria
Provision of emergency medical relief/support to doctors working in Syria (Help inside from Turkey and Jordan)
Provision of quality postoperative and rehabilitative care
The programme is consisting of:
8 primary health care centres in northern Idlib area
1 sexual and reproductive health care unit
Sending of emergency medical relief to medical facilities and medical stakeholders inside Syria, from Turkey and Jordan
Support to health facilities in Syria through partners in Lebanon
2 post-operative and physical rehabilitation centres (1 in Turkey, 1 in Syria)
Tasks & Responsibilities:
As deputy medical coordinator, under the delegation of the medical coordinator, you will guarantee the medical consistency of MdM activities and ensure quality in all aspects of the medical program, developed inside Syria.
Under the responsibility of the medical coordinator, you will be responsible for providing technical support to medical teams (remote management from Turkey) and coordinate activities of the medical program of which you are responsible.
You will work in close collaboration with the field coordinators and the deputy general coordinator.
Technical support:
You will
Support the field medical team to create medical protocols and implement a medical data collection system.
Support the medical supervisors for the establishment, evaluation and continuous improvement of data collection system.
Support field coordinators for the project deployment and ensure the conformity of medical activities with the strategy to implement.
Support the medical coordinator for the implementation under the medical strategy with medical needs that come up from the field.
Support the medical coordinator in the analysis of medical data and the drafting of activity reports.
Coordination :
You willRepresent MdM, at the request of the medical coordinator, at inter-NGO coordination meetings, or any other meeting identified as a priority by the coordination team.
Coordinate the work of collaboration and exchange with partner associations.
Coordinate the information feedback including those related to the needs expressed by the Syrian partners (direct and indirect aid inside Syria)
Organize regular medical team meetings and exchange meetings with supporting departments

Skills & Experience:
You are a medical doctor, nurse or midwife.
You have a significant experience in similar positions, in a humanitarian context.
You have an experience in remote management and emergency response. You have an experience in complex negotiations with local authorities, partners and staff.
You have a capacity to work in a volatile security context and are able to apply strict security rules.
You have a solid capacity to create links with the communities and an ability to manage a team and work in an international team.
You demonstrate reactivity, a capacity of anticipation, of adaptability, and to take initiatives
You have good organizational, writing and communication skills.
You have a team spirit and an interest for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
You are able to work and live in tense conditions (climate, cultural context, promiscuity, isolation)
Languages: English fluent, Arabic is an asset.
