Job Summary


The Project Security Team Medic is a well-rounded cross functional expatriate medic and security professional with flexible roles.
Provides paramedic level medical care as well as building and managing the full spectrum of security.

Principle Accountabilities
Provides emergency medical response and evacuation procedures.
Advanced Trauma casualty care.
Provides medical training for foreign and local national personnel.
Provides personal security training.
Provides close protection.
Provides mobile security team management that includes route, journey, and mission planning.
Provides static security/ force protection management.
Assesses formal threat, risk and vulnerability.
Analyses intelligence pertinent to project activities.
Provides risk consultation, incident management, crisis management.
Briefs on mobile security team mission security details.
Develops and refines standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Drive AVs and Soft Skin vehicles.
When not conducting medical services, medic will conduct security and force protection duties as directed by the Project Security Detail Team Leader.

Knowledge & Skills
Four (4) years’ experience as a Medic-Combat Medic/SF Medic/Corpsman/EMT/ Paramedic.
Ability to read, write, communicate and interpret the English language when giving and receiving instructions and advocating the patient's condition to the higher healthcare provider to which they are transferring the patient.
First aid/trauma skills required and ability to stabilize casualties as a first-line responder, enabling casualties to be moved safely to more comprehensive medical facilities.
To a standard agreed with program to be appropriate for rank and position, complete certified training in driving, weapons, communications, close protection, counterterrorism operations, and threat familiarization, inclusive of fire prevention, mitigation and containment.
Military/police trained; training must have occurred in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) country or a Commonwealth Nation.
Technical expertise in security concepts and techniques and the ability to integrate program security activities with other external security resources as needed.
Shall possess advanced driving skills, both for armored and up-armored vehicles, including manual and automatic vehicles, being trained in evasive and defensive driving techniques.
Ability to navigate and function over varied terrains as well as accurately read road maps and interprets instructions.
Must be qualified in weapons handling, must have a current license (at time of deployment) from the GoIRA to carry weapons.
Must be able to provide pragmatic verbal risk assessments, supporting the development of tactical plans for the conduct of secured movement, as well as venue risk management requirements.
Diplomatic and mature professional skills required to provide close protection services for clients when travelling, and while at the venue site.
Highly developed cross cultural communication skills; good interpersonal management skills
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, field performance, liaison activities, and staff functions, and be in the top end of his/her peer group.
Proven problem solver.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluent in English (Written and spoken).

Experience & Education
Minimum of one (1) years in Afghanistan or Iraq as PSD Medic.
Must meet pre-hospital emergency medical certifications for Emergency Medical Treatment (EMT) –Paramedic; shall have three (3) years of supportive experience.
Current qualifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS), Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) or NATO equivalent.
Critical Care Nurse (CCN) medical training.
Substantial urban and rural operations experience.
Considerable experience as a staff officer, as well as field leadership.
Management experience in large civilian operations in conflict zones.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Physically and medically fit to operate in a hostile environment.
Must be able to lift heavy objects (specifically being able to lift, carry, and balance 125 pounds - 250 pounds with assistance); required for fireman’s carry of wounded personnel.
Must be able to function under high stress and extreme environments (extreme hot and cold weather, plus nature’s elements).
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
Should be capable of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

Travel
Must be willing to travel throughout Afghanistan and internationally including austere or potentially dangerous locations.
