Referent for nursing care and nurse activity manager for OCB operations, with the focus on the quality of nursing care and the organizational aspects.
Following the operational trends that include bigger hospitals with increased number of beds, volume of activities, complexity of care and a higher level of technicality, OCB wants to invest in ensuring adequate, sustained and good quality nursing care.
Job profile :
Leading the improvement of quality of nursing care in collaboration with the other relevant referents
Identify, revise and develop tools for nursing care:
Tools for patient management, patient safety and continuity of care: patient file, evaluation of patient needs in terms of nutrition, pain management, personal hygiene etc.
Tools for technical support: standard operational procedures, protocols…
Monitor and evaluate quality of nursing care in the different projects and propose action plan for improvements.
Focus on (with the relevant referents) safe drug administration and follow up, and aseptic care techniques.
Find solutions to improve specific nursing care activities related to wound care, burn care, casting, enteral feeding, and decubitus prevention in collaboration with the other relevant referents.
Ensure compliance to correct utilization of medical material and equipment.
Answers to technical field questions upon requests and coach nurses when needed.
Contribute to improved organization of nursing care
Identify, revise and develop tools to improve HR management: templates for recruitment tests, job descriptions, nurse/bed ratio, roasters, training packages, etc. adaptable to the different levels of care
Identify, revise and develop tools for the organization of services/wards: handover of shift, task nursing vs integrated care, ‘plan de soins’, care bundles, monitoring tools, etc.
Support improvement of specialized nursing care in collaboration with the other relevant referents as requested
Neonatal care; pediatric care; emergency care; intensive care; etc.
Establish SOP for specific nursing care techniques
Ventilated patient; central lines; etc.
Identify specific equipment or medical devices needed to ensure quality and safety of care
Training
Identify training needs
Establish training tools for the field
Participate to general or medical trainings
Create a network of nursing care experts outside MSF
Provide ad hoc technical support to the field and referents upon request
Provides technical support for field questions related to patient care; to implement evidence based nursing care in the field; for field questions concerning medical devices linked to nursing care
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Registered nurse
Masters in nursing care or Masters in public health
3 years field experience with MSF or a comparable organization
Experience in clinical and management roles in primary and secondary healthcare
Prepared to do field visits
English and French
Assets
Experience in paediatrics/neonatology or ICU/ER wards
Training skills
Writing skills: protocols, rapports, peer-reviewed journals
Analytical skills
Communication skills

Based in Brussels with regular visits to the field
