Position Description


Aspen Medical International in currently in the process of recruiting doctors for the South Pacific region. The General Practitioner – South Pacific will deliver a range of medical services in accordance with the scope of practice and the contractual requirements for the project. The General Practitioner will also oversee clinic or facility operations and be responsible for ensuring clinical governance requirements are met. This role requires the incumbent to be on call 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We are currently looking for experienced physicians to join our team.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery of a range of quality, appropriate, competent emergency and general practice care, that enhances the wellbeing of the patient, including, but not limited to:
GP consultations, referrals, health screenings and liaison with allied health professionals;
Minor surgery involving local anesthesia only and that is superficial in nature and mainly on the periphery of the bod inoculations;
Provision of occupational health services and preventative health care in accordance with Defense Policies and Procedures and as clinically indicated.
Emergency medical responses;
Stabilisation of critically ill patients and transfer as required
Management of patients and aeromedical evacuation, as required
Supervise and mentor other general practitioners and clinical staff
Maintain Clinical Governance and Audit standards
Provide subject matter expertise and consultation to local authorities, hospitals, government departments and other areas as required
Participate in and contribute to all quality assurance and improvement activities, including clinical audit, competency testing, in-service training and other professional development activities
Maintain a positive working relationship between Aspen Medical, customers and key stakeholders


Ensure the professional reputation and image of Aspen Medical is maintained at all times.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTE PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Essential
Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery
Current unrestricted registration as a General Practitioner
Specialist training in general practice and/or emergency medicine
Six years full-time equivalent post graduate clinical experience with at least two years of primary health care and/or emergency care experience
Current certificate (or ability to obtain) in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Demonstrated initiative, problem solving and decision making skills in diverse and difficult situations
Proven ability to work independently and to supervise and mentor clinical staff

Desired
Experience working in remote and/or difficult environment
Offshore, oil and gas or infrastructure based project experience
Experience treating a wide range of patients, from new-borns to elderly
Proven ability to operate in a culturally sensitive manner
