We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join us as Regional Humanitarian Health Advisor and be responsible for ensuring that humanitarian health responses in the Middle East Region are supported with quality technical inputs. You will also be responsible for driving the Save the Children Public Health on the Front Line strategy.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Regional Humanitarian Health Advisor you will often be deployed to the field at short notice in order to set up new emergency health programmes, including leading technical assessments, developing health programme plans, strategies and master budgets, and lead on coordination and representation. You may also directly manage Humanitarian Surge Teams, ensuring the deployment of key health staff is supported in order to ensure the provision of high quality, timely and accountable humanitarian health technical assistance to Save the Children programmes. In addition you will:
Contribute to the Global Humanitarian Health Technical Working group annual work plan which contributes to the movement-wide humanitarian health work
Ensure responses are based on Save the Children’s theory of change, strategies and principles of child rights programming, national policies and international best practice
Work with the regional office and other Save the Children members to secure funding for humanitarian health programmes, coordinating with donor technical experts and developing high quality proposals
Work closely with other advisors from the Humanitarian team on developing and implementing knowledge and best practice for integrated programming
Effectively manage deployment of Health HSTs, while supervising, mentoring and supporting their professional development.

To be successful you will have proven experience in the field as well as in head office in the implementation and management of humanitarian health programmes. You will also have a clinical degree or equivalent technical training and field experience in several diverse acute emergencies, as well as protracted crisis settings. In addition to line management experience, you will have:
Proven experience in developing proposals for major donors
Strong communication skills at a level appropriate for high level external representation and the ability to tailor communications to different audiences
Experience of capacity building and mentoring
Fluency in Arabic and English
The ability to travel at short notice, occasionally to remote and insecure locations for up to 50% of work time.

Accommodation and re-location package may be provided.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
