CTC Medical Supervisor

Context:
Under the Supervision of the Migration Health Physician in Aden, the Medical Supervisor will be responsible for leading IOM medical intervention in the current Cholera outbreak by focusing on control and prevention activities at IOM CTCs and ORPs in Al Dhale’e. Plan and prioritize, Implement, monitor and report the activities as required.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Take lead of MoH staff at IOM supported CTC/DTCs and ORPs to manage proper medical intervention in the field and ensure the early response in line with protocols.
Managing overall CTC and ORPs needs, coordination and activates.
Develop, establish and display clear referral system SOPs (Standards Operational Procedures) for cases failing to recover or deteriorating from ORPs or CTC to higher level facilities.
Monitor the early prevention, detection, verification, assessment and investigation of any risks of outbreaks and the dissemination of data related to the occurrence of outbreaks.
Ensure high quality health and WASH interventions at IOM supported CTC/DTCs.
Train the health facility staff on case definition, diagnosis and management protocols of Acute Watery Diarrheal (AWD)/cholera to ensure proper management of the outbreak.
Direct supervision and follow up of the health care providers in the CTC/ORPs to ensure attendance, proper case definition, management and referral if needed.
Provide direct management and follow of severe and complicated medical cases.
Address the needed resources for community mobilization and communication in collaboration with health education department and liaison officers.
Collect and submit daily and weekly reports to the Migration Health Physician in Aden and National Public Health Officer.
Maintain regular procurement, follow up and daily inventory of medicines and supplies in the supported facilities.
Regular follow up of the attendance of the MoH staff and prepare the attendance sheet on monthly basis to follow with the HR for their payment.
Make recommendations and give guidance on relevant courses of actions to be taken in affected as well as non-affected areas in order to prevent and/or control cause of excess morbidity and mortality.
Provide technical assistance in observing and maintaining high levels of infection prevention & control in the CTC/ORPs.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
University Degree in Medicine with one year of professional experience.
License to practice Medicine in Yemen is a MUST.

Experience
Experience of treating patients in remote/hard to reach areas at least one year.
Experience in working in CTC/DTCs.
Experience of treating and managing cases of MAM and SAM.
Computer Literacy

Languages

Fluency in English is required, Arabic is an advantage.
