Context:
Under the direct supervision of migration health officer and technical guidance of the Migration Health Programmed Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of health activities, and assistance in overall case management of programme beneficiaries assisted by the IOM Yemen’s Health Programmed .The incumbent is expected to carry out his/ her duties in accordance with strictest ethical standards and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities.
The incumbent’s roles encompass a range of responsibilities including planning and managing the health needs, coordinating with mobile/fixed health clinic leader for the operation of the mobile/ fixed health clinics.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Provide clinical management of patient in the fixed and mobile health clinics for migrants and/or IDPs.
Provide medical consultation and treatment of common ailments according to WHO and national treatment guidelines, including the implementation of IMCI for children under-five.
Provide emergency medical care to cases of injury, including the performance of minor surgery;
Facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS according to national protocols;
Facilitate referral of patients with moderate to severe medical conditions to higher health care facilities, with coordination of clinic supervisor.
Identify and refer cases of violence to the Protection Unit, especially cases of gender-based violence;
Identify and refer cases of mental health problems to the Psychosocial Counsellor, stabilize and refer serious mental health problems.
Assist mobile/fixed health clinic team in any emergency cases or as needed.
Prepare list of medicines required and medical supplies and ensure daily replenishment with the assistance of medical nurse.
Carry out health promotion activities on nutrition, breast feeding ,vaccines , personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, water sanitation, proper use of sanitary latrine, awareness raising of communicable diseases such as diarrheal diseases, malaria, DHF, TB, HIV, reproductive health and other infectious diseases as appropriate;
Facilitate the implementation of mass vaccination campaign and regular vaccination for children under-five and pregnant women as appropriate.
Collect and analyse clinical data on a weekly basis for internal reporting as well as sharing of information to the mobile /fixed Health Clinic team leader
Closely monitor the occurrence of disease outbreaks and inform the team leader.
Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time which are commensurate to the position.


Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
University Degree in Medicine; License to practice medicine in Yemen a MUST;
Experience
Experience of treating patients in remote/hard to reach areas at least one year;
Experience of treating and managing cases of MAM and SAM
Languages
Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory

Required Competencies Behavioral
Excellent clinical skills; at least three years of clinical experience in General Practice and Family medicine.
Strong management skills are necessary, demonstrated by at least one year work experience managing health related projects for international organizations or government and institutions focusing on community health;
Capacity to work independently, efficiently with flexibility;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including ability to speak in public, good writing, communication and negotiation skills.
