Job Summary:
The position will be based in Ibb, Yemen, and will report to the Health & Nutrition Coordinator. The person will work closely with Health and Nutrition Coordinator and Nutrition Manager to ensure technical standards in IMC integrated health and nutrition programming, including support and capacity building of national health and nutrition managers. The person will actively travel to other site offices to support the health teams in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure timely delivery on program components according to the proposed activities and available funds
Support quality programming related to primary health care, reproductive health, community health outreach, vaccination, early warning systems, outbreak response, medical supply chain management, pharmaceutical supply and appropriate drug use
Work closely with the Health & Nutrition Coordinator to undertake ongoing assessments of population needs and adapt the program interventions accordingly
Monitor and analyze data to flag possible outbreaks during the emergency phase
Review project proposal materials and ensure their proper implementation at the field sites
Coordinate with all pertinent actors and actively participate in relevant cluster meetings
Train health staff on medical facility assessments, data quality assurance, analysis and interpretation of data, disease surveillance, emergency preparedness, outbreak response and other relevant subjects related to program management
Ensure availability and development of technical tools to be used in health programming and training of the staff in their use
Hold regular coordination meetings with health personnel to update project monitoring plan and discuss challenges/solutions and exchange feedback on implementation
Ensure national counterparts are trained and empowered to perform
Schedule site visits for monitoring and supervision to ensure quality of services, accurate data collection and verification of pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment
Regularly visit health facilities at field sites and provide feedback to the relevant health and nutrition managers
Compile data and submit reports as needed
Participate in proposal development for the projects
Coordinate with other program departments to ensure integrated implementation of services
Anticipate changing needs and emergencies
Work with finance, logistics, HR/admin and security to ensure smooth implementation of project activities
Represent the organization in a positive manner at coordination meetings
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
Ensure application and compliance of security protocols and policies
Qualification & Skills:
Medical doctor or nurse with Masters in Public Health or an equivalent degree
Must have at least 5 years professional experience in implementing health-related projects
Must have at least 5 years experience working with INGOs in humanitarian or development contexts (previous emergency response, conflict/post-conflict experience preferred)
Must be familiar with PHC supplies, trauma kits, basic hospital equipment and pharmaceuticals
Must be able to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators
Ability to work with a team and capacity building of national staff
Must be fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic preferred
Must be skilled in Microsoft Office
Must be able to travel to field sites regularly
Must be able to live and work in a highly insecure environment with limited movement and remote management if needed.
