Background

BAHAR Organization (BO) is an independent humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organisation providing health care, relief and development programs. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, 2012, BRO is dedicated to address the needs of the affected communities with the available resources and tools to maintain a sustainable and well-established humanitarian channel to reach the vulnerable communities and displaced individual in attempt to provide the basic needs and life-saving assistance.

Overview of Position


The health office project officer is responsible for multiple health projects implemented in Syria and Iraq, with responsibilities ranging from report forecasting and strategic planning to
working with Project Officers and the Donor to insure they deliver on-time. He/She will be inextricably tied to the success of the project he/she works on. Driving everything forward from development to implementation, his/her actions will directly influence the project's efficiency. Based in Erbil, he/she is expected to provide technical inputs in projects of health such as mobile and static clinics, with nutrition component.

Reports to: Country director

Main Responsibilities:


Supervise and manage the progress of the project according to a specific workplan.


Prepare and submit periodic reports of project progress to the direct manager and donor.


Revise the reports of all departments, including finance, M&E, HR and logistics and approve them.


Liaise the team in Iraq with team in Syria.


Represent the organisation in health meetings.


Prepare and send monthly reports of the projects managed by him/her to the health programs manager.


Cooperate with other departments to make sure that they fulfill their tasks related to this project, especially documentations and finance report.


Set periodic meetings with other departments to discuss the progress of the projects and find solutions for any existed and potential barriers and challenges.


Modify the implementation plan of the project for any logical or medical reason.


Revise the M&E reports and act according to the recommendations.


Supervise and manage the field health team who are related directly to the project.


Receive the reports of implementation from field managers, revise them and submit them to the programs manager.


Attend the meetings related to this position, or any meeting as per the line manager request.


Provide related training to the health team (the method is discussed with the Programs Manager).


Coordinate with health team in Turkey and Syria and provide all required information related to the position.


Supervise the field managers of the project directly (line manager), unless there is any change according to pre-informed HR structuring.


Provide the technical support to the team of the project in Iraq and Syria.


Determine any specific need of capacity building related to the position and inform the Programs Manager.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills


Medical / Health certificate.


Three-year experience minimum in similar position.


English language proficiency: very good (reading, writing and speaking).


MS Office package proficiency: very good.


Demonstrated ability to train and improve capacity building of project volunteers and field project staff.


Ability to transfer gained skills to other staff.


Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.


Empathy with organizational vision, mission, goals and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.


Very good written and verbal communication skills.


Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.


Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.


Good leadership, planning and dispute resolution skills.
