Overview

The primary goal for the Community Health Advisor is to ensure the overall technical and programmatic quality of the Boma Health Initiative (BHI) implementation on the one hand, and access to quality nutrition services as part of activities relating to CMMB’s Children and Mothers Partnerships (CHAMPS) and other projects. The Community Health Advisor will be based in the Yambio program office and will work directly with county health teams, field teams, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.

The position will support all aspects of the BHI related to system design and tool development, staffing, and day-to-day technical support for ongoing quality of services. To that end, the Community Health Advisor will provide technical support to county program coordinators and their teams on strategic planning and coordination as well as monitoring and evaluation of project activities, with a focus on the timely and effective rollout of the BHI as well as the delivery of quality health and nutrition services in the community. S/he supervises and works closely with related sector specialists. The Community Health Advisor plays a central part in promoting intersectoral collaboration and community participation and strengthened system that efficiently delivers components of the Basic Package of Health and Nutrition Services (BPHNS) at community level to achieve universal coverage

Responsibilities

· Provide technical leadership and guidance for the implementation of the BHI.

· Provide technical support and guidance to the CMMB project managers and county coordinators on strategic and operational planning and project implementation.

· Ensure effective planning, coordination, and monitoring and evaluation of project activities by county health teams.

· Provide technical support and guidance to the county health department and the State Ministry of Health on strategic and operational planning and project implementation.

· Develop and maintain intersectoral collaborations and community engagement strategies for effective delivery of components of the BPHNS at community level.

· Collaborate with other project technical advisors and use routine data to ensure synergy and responsiveness of community-based health and nutrition activities.

· Document project results and impacts in various forms, including media stories, lessons learned, case studies, client satisfaction, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in public Health, social sciences, or related fields.

• Five to seven years’ work experience, of which three years are in community-based health and nutrition programming or involve managing complex programs within a nonprofit or community-based agency in a developing country context.

• Proven track record in a provision of effective technical support for community health and nutrition programs.

• Familiarity with project indicators, quantitative and qualitative data to monitor overall project performance.

• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, including ability to effectively communicate across cultures.

• Highly developed cultural awareness and an ability to work well in an international environment with employees, partners, and communities of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

• Proven experience in training and mentoring staff and community members, and strong knowledge of community capacity building for team members and government and community counterparts.

• Possess an outstanding professional reputation and have demonstrated positive interpersonal, written, and oral presentation skills. Willingness to travel within the Western Equatoria region and across the counties
