Position Duties / Responsibilities
PROJECT SAFETY SERVICES SUPERVISOR I
Develops and implements the safety management program on an assigned
project. Provides technical oversight of the project? safety/health
compliance activities through identification and integration of
applicable requirements into project designs, subcontract bid
specifications, construction plans and schedules and other field
execution activities. Works directly with other project-level
functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts,
procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in
integrating and/or addressing the applicable safety/health requirements
in their work products and activities. Coordinates with the global
business unit-assigned Safety Services Manager regarding significant
project safety/health issues and safety support needs.
Performs and supervises work in the safety/health field on a small- to
medium-sized project which requires knowledge of and demonstrated
ability in safety engineering concepts. Requires knowledge of
administrative practices.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in development and implementation of the Project ES&H
Execution Plan, related procedures and training programs. Confers with
managers/supervisors on ES&H matters to ensure that work plan procedures
are in conformance with Bechtel, Owner and Governmental requirements.
Monitors work practices utilized by Bechtel, subcontractors and/or
others on the Project. Stops work in imminent danger situations and/or
conditions having imminent adverse environmental impact. Conducts
appropriate ES&H training for Bechtel, Owner and Subcontractor personnel
as well as visitors. Performs accident investigations where/when
necessary.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
-Assist project Safety Manager in developing policies, programs,
procedures
-Meet regularly with subcontracts personnel helping define Project ES&H
requirements in developing contract packages
-Coordinate field inspections/investigations by regulatory agencies and
corrective action resolution
-Provide technical resource to construction personnel and review work
plans and activities for compliance with Project ES&H requirements
-Conduct field inspections and document compliance (or non-compliance)
with Project ES&H Procedures
-Assist ES&H Manager with oversight/monitoring of subcontractors
-Develop and conduct various ES&H-related training
-Participate in implementation of Project Emergency Response Plan
-Perform safety/life critical jobsite assessments
-Assist in developing standard metrics as well as leading indicator
metrics and present to management
-Assist with oversight of Project onsite medical program
-Develop relationships with off-site first responders
-Attend various staff meetings and planning/scheduling meetings to
advise Project personnel on ES&H matters
-Provide technical problem solving support to ES&H Manager regarding
mitigating impacts to the driving public and local businesses in
accordance with laws, regulations and Project commitments
-Monitor work practices and MOT of Subcontractors and Direct Hire labor
forces
-Lead accident investigations
-Provide medical assistance and coordination with project nurse and
Medical Review Officer.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree and expertise related to safety and health.
- At least 5 to 8 years - expertise and training in systems safety and
electrical systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge, training, and experience in safety procedures,
regulatory requirements, and planning.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated computer skills (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid drivers license.
- Must have the right to work and live in the U.S.
