Job Description
We have a requirement for two demining Operations Managers for a new project opportunity starting in August 2009 and running to 30 June 2010. One Operations Manager will be responsible for completions and QA and the other one will be responsible for planning. These positions will report to the Programme Manager in Juba, South Sudan.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and supervise our mine and UXO clearance operations at the designated sites
- Direct line management of the 4 Project Managers
- Ensure implementation of all SOP’s, drills and other working practices
- Responsibility for updating of in country SOP’s, working practices and obtaining MineTech International and client approval for these updates
- Conduct risk assessment operations to ensure safety of operations
- Conduct QC/QA/QM, monitoring and evaluation of operational tasks to ensure safety and effectiveness
- MineTech International HSE representative
- Ensure up to date knowledge of all mines and munitions in the theatre of operations
- Ensure up to date knowledge of all equipment used in the theatre of operations and maintained to its operational readiness
- Conduct reconnaissance and survey of mine/UXO contaminated areas as directed by the Programme Manager
- Provide technical advice to Project Managers and other MineTech International staff as required and ensure Project Managers are fully briefed on operational matters
- Develop and implement new systems and techniques to enhance operations
- Deputise for the Programme Manager and Project Manager when required
- Write and submit implementation plans for approval
- Collate and submit technical reports to the required end user
- Formulate training schedules. Conduct and oversee all training
- Regularly visit each work site
- Disarming or neutralising of in country mines where applicable and as authorised by relevant authorities
- Conduct in-situ and bulk demolitions
Qualifications & Experience
- IMAS EOD Level 4 qualification
- Proficient in the use of electronic mapping programmes
- Good organisation and planning skills
- Fit to work and live in a remote environment
- Good communication skills to interact well with Project Managers and client
- Conversant with IMSMA
- Excellent report writing skills and budgetary awareness
