To qualify for these roles you will need to demonstrate the following through your application-
1. HPC registered Paramedic status for a minimum of two years
2. A high degree of theoretical trauma knowledge combined with practical application of these skills (evidenced through sound Continuing Professional Development (CPD)).
3. A commitment to clinical excellence particularly in pre-hospital trauma care.
4. Exceptional team working skills, as you will be required to work within an extremely close knit joint helicopter Police/Ambulance team.
5. The willingness to work under the supervision of a Doctor or other more highly trained Clinician when necessary.
6. A commitment to further higher professional education and development
The aircraft operates between 08.00 - 01.30 Monday to Saturday and 09.00 - 00.01 on Sunday. Also shifts are covered on a single manned Paramedic Response Car in the event of the aircraft being offline.
The successful applicants will undergo a rigorous instruction programme and should be competent swimmers in order to undergo water survival training.
The selection process for Air Crew Paramedic will consist of the following elements-
* Completing an application form with evidence of how you meet the aforementioned criteria including line manager reference.
* A panel interview and presentation
* Trauma Scenario
* Successfully passing a SECAmb medical. (required for all new roles)
* Undertaking a flight suitability assessment
* Completing a new CRB to the satisfaction of the Trust (required for all new roles)
* Successfully completing Air Crew/Ambulance training and passing any necessary examinations
