Remote Site Medical Technician Somalia
The successful Medical Technician will responsible providing the necessary medical emergency support to a security team based in and around Mogadishu, Somalia. As a fully qualified Advanced Life Support Medic you will be required to stabilise Trauma Patients, preparation for Medical Evacuation, provide emergency Medical Response activities and the coordination of Medical and Occupational Health Inspections.
Key Tasks:
To be the Medical Emergency On-Scene Commander as part of the facility Emergency Response Team
To have an active involvement in emergency response planning and implementation
To oversee day to day clinic operations ensuring best medical practice
To provide first aid training and pre hospital care for accidents and incidents
To provide training in triage, patient resuscitation, extraction, and transport
Review medical response procedures in terms of personnel and equipment for Mogadishu facility
Coordinate the oversight and maintenance of all medical facilities and equipment, ensuring serviceability and suitability
To review requirements and implementation of occupational health policy
To provide advice to Operations Manager on medical emergency response issues.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Understanding and ability to utilise a chain of command structure
Previous experience of hostile environments
Experience of clinic management
Valid pre-hospital trauma and advanced life support certification
Previous experience in conducting training in first aid and pre-hospital medical care
Demonstrated field based experience of administering Emergency Medical Care and Trauma Management
Significant operational experience as a paramedic or medic with some experience as a remote sit or offshore paramedic
Hold a valid UK HSE Offshore Medics Certificate or equivalent
Qualified and hold a current qualification as an Advanced Life Support Registered Nurse or Registered Paramedic of Military Equivalent
Desirable:
Knowledge of East Africa
Good Information Technology skills
Experience of preparing patients for aerial medical evacuation
Relevant Military or Police service
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent Experience
Note* A passport with at least 6 months of validility is required for the position
