Essential Job Duties:
Directs fire fighting and emergency crews assigned to his fire fighting unit, performs fire fighting and rescue operations, conducts inspections and general maintenance on fire fighting tools, equipment and appliances. Supports the Senior emergency Response Technician in conducting fire prevention inspections and performs inspections of installed fire suppression and protection equipment.
General duties of this position included but are not limited to:
•Assumes and performs the duties of the Senior Emergency Response Technician in his absence or when so instructed
•Supervises the assigned fire fighting vehicle crew and is responsible for the care, maintenance and usage of all equipment and items pertaining thereto.
•Supervising and responsible for carrying out fire fighting and rescue actions during emergency situations
•Direct and supervising routine station duties of the crew members
•Responsible and supervising of emergency response actions under the direction of the Senior Emergency Response Technician or Emergency Response Team Officer in accordance with standard operating procedures and guidelines
•Maintains training proficiency levels through participation in in-service training programs, seminars and advanced training courses
•Sets a good example for the Emergency Response Team Members; enforces team members compliance with all required standards of conduct and performance
Specific duties of this position included but are not limited to:
•Preparation of reports and maintaining records as required
•Conducting and supervising training for station personnel
•Obeying, supporting and enforcing the department rules, regulations, policies and procedures and requiring the same of his team members.
•Supervising and assisting subordinates in the performance of maintenance, training, company inspections and emergency response activities.
•Supervising the response to emergency incidents to include structural fires, motor-vehicle accidents, first aid calls, hazardous materials spill or other emergency incidents as required
•Supervising the performance of incipient stage (first echelon) fire fighting activities
•When required, wears self-contained breathing apparatus and special protective clothing to perform fire fighting duties.
•Supervising and assist in the evacuation of building occupants, and when necessary administers basic first aid to the injured.
•Supervising and performing fire watch and routine fire safety inspections at production facilities/process, power plant and sub-stations and at other facilities as required.
•Supervising and performing periodic inspection and testing of portable fire extinguishers, fire hose stations and installed fire suppression systems. Responsible for recording and documenting of the results of inspection in accordance with established procedures.
•Responsible for keeping fire fighting appliances in serviceable condition; directing, supervising and performing routine general maintenance on fire fighting tools and equipment;
•Responsible for the maintaining fire station facilities in clean condition
•Directing and supervising daily and routine inspection checks of assigned fire fighting vehicles and response units; Responsible for recording and controlling of the vehicle inspection checklist and discrepancies
•Maintains proficiency qualification by participation in on-the-job training programs, exercises, drills and attendance specialized training seminars and courses.
•Participates in the organizations fire fighter physical fitness program; maintains good physical condition.
•Supervising the operation of fire alarm and suppression system control systems.
•Performs fire alarm communication center operator duties in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; receives emergency calls, records emergency information data, dispatches fire crews to emergency incidents and records vital incident information in the FACC incident reporting system
•Performs other duties as assigned and required to meet the operational objectives of the Emergency Response Team organization.
Required Qualifications:
•Diploma in fire & Safety with 2 years of experience in fire fighting and rescue (OR) Secondary school with at least 5 years of experience in fire fighting and rescue
•First Responder - Emergency First Aid
•Physically and mentally fit
•Medically certified to perform Fire Fighter Duties
•Leadership skills and Operational Experience
•Ability to enforce code compliance
•Knowledge in Fire Protection Technology
•Ability to perform strenuous Fire Fighting and Rescue Duties
•Basic Knowledge in Fire Prevention and Life Safety Standards
•Ability to implement programs policies and procedures
•Familiar with petro-chemical operations and standard procedures
