Essential Job Duties:

The Senior Emergency Response Technician is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily and emergency activities of personnel assigned to his shift. Develops routine work schedules, conducts training and supports the Emergency Response Team Office in implementing Emergency Response Team programs, policies and procedures.

General duties of this position included but are not limited to:

•Is directly responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the departments fire operations, training, staff development and fire fighting occupational safety health programs.
•Assumes and performs the duties of the Emergency Response Officer in his absence or when so instructed
•Sets a good example for the Emergency Response Team Staff; enforces team members compliance with all required standards of conduct and performance
•Attends training programs and seminars; maintains proficiency by reading periodicals and journals to stay knowledgeable of current industry trends and practices
•Responsible for meeting the departments minimum certification requirements
•Performs other duties as may be required


Specific duties of this position included but are not limited to:

•Responsible for supervising the activities of the shift leaders
•Responsible for the coordination of the fire and emergency training programs for the personnel including
•Developing, conducting, coordinating and managing fire and emergency training programs
•Supervising and working as a training instructor in the development and delivery of training programs
•Scheduling training programs and managing the use and maintenance of the departments training apparatus, vehicles and fixed facilities
•Maintaining the permanent training file for each member of the Emergency Response Team, Develops training programs to ensure continued skill development of assigned personnel and monitors individual training needs
•Preparing reports and maintaining records as required
•Responsible for supervising the use, maintenance and repair of the departments administration and training facilities
•Enforcing state laws and local ordinances pertaining to fire prevention and safety
•Direct and supervising routine station duties of the crew members
•Develops shift work schedules and duty assignments
•Scheduling maintenance program for fire fighting and rescue equipments and maintain records


Required Qualifications:

•Diploma in fire & Safety with 5 years of experience in fire fighting and rescue (OR) Secondary school with at least 8 years of experience in fire fighting and rescue
•First Responder - Emergency First Aid
•Physically and mentally fit
•Medically certified to perform Fire Fighter Duties
•Powerful Leadership skills and Operational Experience
•Ability to enforce code compliance
•Ability to represent the department; public relation skills
•Knowledge in Fire Protection Technology
•Ability to perform strenuous Fire Fighting and Rescue Duties
•Knowledge in Fire Prevention and Life Safety Standards
•Ability to develop programs policies and procedures
•Familiar with petro-chemical operations and standard procedures
•Goal orientated and mission focused
•Costumer orientated
•Good interpersonal and communication skills.
