Location: Sioux Falls

The Sanford Health Intensive Air team is seeking a full-time Paramedic / Driver. Will work 72 hours per two week pay period. Will work 12 hour rotating shift to include every other weekend and holiday.

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a paramedic in a lead role. Lead role as defined as primarily responsible for care and treatment of all patients, regardless of the delegation of tasks

The Intensive Air Flight Paramedic is responsible for participating as a team member on all appropriate Intensive Air flights. The Flight Paramedic will provide emergency medical care to patients prior to and during, air and ground inter-facility and /or scene transport. Must be able to tolerate various flight conditions i.e. altitudes, weather conditions. Each flight paramedic will undergo orientation and safety training prior to beginning duties. She/He is responsible for helping develop and improve techniques and standards of the
Intensive Air program. Will be expected to share responsibility to maintain a safe environment for the patient, family, and flight team. The Flight Paramedic will work in Trauma 5 when flight duties permit. Will also do other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Must have a working knowledge of radios and communication equipment. Must possess the ability to inspect medical equipment related to air transport. Must be proficient in the knowledge and skills with in the paramedic scope of practice as identified by the United States Department of Transportation Paramedic curriculum. Must be able to apply critical thinking skills and respond with appropriate interventions. Must be able to apply age-specific protocols to patients within each transport specialty.

Must have completed a DOT approved paramedic course. Must be currently certified as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) thru the NREMT- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and must possess or be eligible obtain a SD Paramedics license thru the SD Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners within one-month of hire. Must be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire. BLS, ACLS, PALS, BTLS or PHTLS provider required. Valid driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain SD license. When applicable, the employee must have a current valid Category II driver’s license and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
