Role description
The British Red Cross recruits delegates to second to the ICRC for their missions. The ICRC operates in places of armed conflict throughout the world and the work and conditions are therefore often dangerous and volatile. Candidates must be willing to undertake unaccompanied postings for up to 12 months.

Overview:
As an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Ward Nurse promotes and ensures the delivery of high quality patient care aiming to achieve national/international standards depending on the context.

The Ward Nurse works in a capacity-building approach within nursing care and infection control in ICRC assisted or independent hospital structures. Resources are often limited and the environments can be challenging.
Qualifications:
- Nursing degree with a valid licence to practice in your home country
- Minimum 5 years professional experience with preferably 3 years in general, orthopaedic or trauma nursing


Skills and requirements:
- Preparedness to accept unaccompanied postings (ie. no spouse, partner, children or dependents) for a minimum of 6 months
- Excellent English. Additional knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic or Russian is a strong asset
- Driving licence (manual transmission)
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
- Able to work in a team and supervise others
