REPORTS TO: PROGRAM FIELD COORDINATOR

PLACE OF WORK: BELEDWAYNE WITH FREQUENT VISITS TO JALALAQSI, MAHAAS AND BULOBURTE


Duties & Responsibilities: 
Context knowledge and analysis
Assists the Program Field co in the medical understanding of the context

Project management
Supports the Program field coordinator in the definition of operational strategies at the field level
Supervises the medical activities as described in the project proposal and logical frame work.
Defines medical priorities of the project at field level with the support of the program field coordinator.
Follow up and monitor (together with the program field coordinator) the medical activities through the logical framework.

Reporting
Responsible for the Health and Nutrition monthly program reports.
Dissemination of feedback from Regional office to the medical team of analysis of statistics.


Responsible for the feedback given to the local staff of past achievements.


Keeps together with the program field co an emergency preparedness spirit among the team


To participate in assessments and outbreak response as necessary.

Representation
Is responsible (by delegation of the program field coordinator) for medical contact networking with external partners and MoH counterpart at field level
Keep a written track of relevant external meetings and keeps the program Field co updated.

Planning
Responsible for the compilation of the monthly planning of activities in the team per expected result.
End responsible for ensuring that the field staff are involved in the planning

HR management
Briefs the new team members on the medical aspects of the program
Responsible, together with program field coordinator or Admin, for the recruitment of field medical staff (clear JD, transparent selection on well-defined criteria)
To give input to the program field coordinator (management skills & technical skills) to evaluate the medical team.

Training:
Responsible to assess training needs of the medical staff (semi structured questionnaire, focus group discussions)
To make a retrospective overview on trainings done before to embark on new training activities. To observation and supervise current ongoing trainings
Make recommendations of how and ways of implementing the training on the short and long-term basis in collaboration with the program field coordinator.

Pharmacy management
Is the end responsible at field level for the overall pharmacy/drug store management.
Assures the coordination of medical supply between medics and logistics.
Responsible for Stock management (expired drugs mgt), Orders (standard order list)

Drugs consumption


Proactive assessment of stock; stock update, AMC, soon to expire and excess stock (list for donation)


Regular inventories of pharmacy (physical every 3 months, stock cards every month)


Supervision and management of the field staff on the management of stock (Empower them).


Follow up of the supply, orders (together with the logistician) and, condition of drugs and drug consumption.


Provide technical and sometime also direct support in the MCH staff and to the outreach team.

Experience
· 2-3 years in similar position
· Experience working in Somalia
· Health and Nutrition back ground from a recognized health institution

· Strong knowledge of the programme management cycle, and related process and structures for quality programme management
