Regional medical referent - Syrian crisis (M/F)

As regional medical referent–Syrian crisis, you are under the authority of the regional coordinator and have functional link with the medical coordinators in the region (Turkey/Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq) and the regional mental health referent.
You will be based in Amman with regular visits to country missions and to HQ. In addition, you have functional link with the medical and technical referents at the HQ and you work closely with them.

More specifically:
-You will participate to the development and implementation of the medical priorities of MdM strategic action plan and ensure that it is consistent with medical needs and standards of MdM approach. You will develop and implement health surveillance system and regularly give feedback on the contextual health situation.
-You will be responsible for capitalization and standardization of medical programs. You will support the monitoring of programs including medical data collection system (Monitool) and facilitate exchange of good practices among the medical coordinators.
-You will provide technical support to the medical coordinators in terms of public health protocols, epidemiological follow-up, data collection and analysis tools, medical curricula, procedures/guidelines elaboration, validation of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, etc. Moreover, you support local partners’ medical team on technical and organizational matters.

-You will ensure MdM participation in regional medical/public health meetings with key stakeholders and INGOs. You support country missions by representing MdM toward donors and UN agencies when required by the regional coordinator.

Status : Employee

Contract : Fixed-term contract

Duration : 12 months

Starting date: as soon as possible
Position based in Amman with frequent trips in the region (Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

Diploma of doctor, nurse or midwife
Diploma in Public Health is an asset
Significant experience in similar positions
Experience in sexual & reproductive health, protection or mental health is an asset
Solid capacity to create links with stakeholders and an ability to manage an international team
Experience in outbreak management and emergency response as well as in early-recovery settings
You work with reactivity, anticipation, adaptability and capacity to take initiatives and you have organizational skills
Languages:
English fluent (oral and written)
Arabic and French an asset
