Job Overview/Summary:
This program seeks a qualified midwife who will work directly with IRCs Emergency Health Coordinator and Libyan health staff to ensure quality services within healthcare facilties in the Misrata area.

Responsibilities
Carry out clinical activities and patient care alongside and in collaboration with local personnel including:

examining and monitoring pregnant women
assessing care requirements and writing care plans


undertaking antenatal care
carrying out screening tests
taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
caring for and assisting women in labour
monitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labour
monitoring the foetus during labour
advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies and providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners
helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death

Provide technical support and oversight to hospital/healthcare facility staff in patient care and service delivery


Preparation and care of patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures


Referral of patients to and between hospitals/healthcare facilities
Collaborate with the team leader and medical coordinator in sending orders for periodic re-stocking
Work with M&E team to ensure accuracy and quality of data collected from all hospital/healthcare facilities on a monthly basis
Conduct monthly data analysis and take action as appropriate
Provide training to hospital/healthcare facility personnel for specific needs of the facility
Works as a member of the team, taking in consideration the non-medical problems encountered by the patients (i.e. feeding and psychosocial)
Develop and foster professional working relationship with medical counterparts of hospital/healthcare facilities

Requirements:
Completion of post-graduate midwifery training
2-3 years clinical experience in a hospital settings, with low-resource settings preferable
Technical expertise in infection, prevention and control
Demonstrated experience in implementing IPC practices and systems improvement
Demonstrated experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Experience in training and mentoring
Previous experience of working in North Africa preferable
Fluent Arabic speaker
