Job Summary:

The Hospital Coordinator (HC) prime responsibilities are to manage the day-to-day hospital activities and health staff activities. The HC will: 1) Prepare work and shift schedules for hospital supervisors and other medical, paramedical and support personnel; 2) provide technical assistance and guidance for the clinical staff; 3) ensure adequate and uninterrupted provision of drug supplies for all program sites; 3) monitor and evaluate hospital activities; and 4) maintain contact with the Camp Camps Coordinator and Medical Coordinator and recommend required actions to improve the services to them; and 5) ensure that provided services are of desirable standards and in line with the MoH regulations; 6) liaise all health interventions with the clinics, outreach and nutrition teams as well as with other relevant sectors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management:

· Oversee all hospital activities including referrals.

· Monitor daily activities at the hospital ensuring high service quality.

· Coordinate with other project managers, high level management to communicate the needs and the demands and interact with the other components under different grants

· Participate in proposal and budget development. Work with the program team to draft concepts for potential funding following the protocols and formats of each relevant donor.

· Provide 8 hours of B or C shifts as required and approved by direct line manager.

· Work closely with the Health Coordinator, senior management, and field teams to assess the operational needs of the hospital.

· Work with health coordinator to develop and update standard operating procedures (SOP) for the hospital.

· Work with the clinic managers to ensure the flow of patients among different services in the camp.

· Work closely with the Health Coordinator to maintain communications with donors and provide them with statistical data and other information.

· Work with the logistic team to maintain the stock of the medications and other supplies at all health facilities.

· Work closely with other departments to assess training needs for medical and paramedical staff.

· Oversee data management processes, provide preliminary analysis of data, ensures timely submission of file reports and contribute to donor reports.

· Liaise with the health authorities and international agencies at the field level to ensure adherence to national and international protocols.

· Work with the health team and other health partners in the field to develop the health contingency plans.

· Review pharmacy reports to monitor drug consumption per site and amend program interventions as necessary.

· Regularly update the Country Office on program progress.

· Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisors as necessary.
Representation

· Attend field health coordination meetings as well as other coordination meetings relevant to health programs and disseminate relevant information among direct line managers.

· Ensure maximum visibility of the agency amongst the NGO and donor communities.
Resource Mobilization

• Support the Health Coordinator and other senior medical staff to conduct assessments and utilize available information to mobilize resources and meet needs. This will primarily be done through engagement with relevant Working Groups to access available funding and develop concept notes and proposals. The Health Program Coordinator should ensure proper engagement of relevant field staff in the proposal development process to ensure the appropriateness and feasibility of the project design.
Human Resources Management

• lead various selection and training processes in the hospital, monitor staff performance to recommend promotions, disciplinary action and termination of staff in consultation with the field manager.

• Help senior head of units in the hospital to supervise the day-to-day health staff to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Working Relationships

• Maintain frequent communication with the Camps Projects Coordinator to ensure day to day updates on program activities.

• As much as possible, ensure the integration of activities among IMC sectors including Mental Health, Nutrition and Child Protection.

• Attend coordination meetings which relevant to country activities or as necessary.

• Interface with national government and relevant agencies as necessary.

Deliverables:

• Weekly updates.
• Monthly reports.
• Technical proposals for medical component.
• Medical staff development plans.
• Annual inventory and plans of medical equipment, medications and medical supplies.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor Degree in Medicine with at least 5 years of practice.
· Minimum of 5-year experience in the management preferably management of health facilities.
· Experience in the field of humanitarian emergencies is preferable.
· Experience in training and capacity building.
· Leadership and team management skills.
· Fluent English (speaking, reading and writing)
