We require a professional Offshore Medic for a 4 week assignment based in the North sea .
The offshore Medic reports to the Captain and is the health service representative onboard and is responsible for ensuring that the hospital and the occupational health and working environment systems are in accordance with Subsea 7 procedures, flag state requirements and when applicable:
Health care and first aid on offshore installations and pipeline works, Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (First Aid) Regulations 1989 ACOP and Guidance
NPD Regulations relating to health, environment and safety in the petroleum activities and Norsok U-100
Or any similar legislation relevant to the Country of operation.The Medic holds an independent position onboard. In the event of a conflict between medical work and administration work, the medical work has first priority.
Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities
The main responsibilities of the Medic are to provide first aid, medical management of ailments and injuries, including medical emergency situations, and the administration of medicines that are in accordance with the Offshore Medic Standing Orders or on the advice of the Duty Doctor.
The Medic is responsible for ensuring that all health matters as detailed in MA-GL-HSE-001 Health Manual are complied with.
On behalf of the Captain maintain the hospital and vessel medical equipment and drug inventory
The Vessel Medic is responsible for reporting the activities of the medical service onboard the vessel.
The Vessel Medic shall assist the Captain, the OM and others onboard regarding health and environment.
The Vessel Medic shall have direct access to the Duty Doctor System for guidance and supervision as necessary.
Medical team leader during emergencies and incidents.
Training of emergency teams and first aiders to ensure an efficient response.
Provide information, instruction and training on Occupational Health and Hygiene matters through, for example, organised training, safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Act as Hazardous Material Sypol Coordinator, audit assessments and provide guidance and support to management and the workforce.
DSV`s operating in Norwegian sector – assist the OMT in the set up and administration of the Working Environment Programme according to Norwegian legislation.
Assist the OMT in administration associated with implementing the Company's policies and Safety Management System with the following:
In support of the worksite OMT responsibilities for the delivery of HSE the Medic will provide administration support. This support is limited to the data management aspects and not directly providing Safety Management activities at the operational level.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties
Input of data into Synergi using data provided by all departments
Liaise with L&D to maintain current training records and matrices
Administration of crew changes and POB lists
Printing and posting relevant HSEQ materials
Participating in incident investigation groups when requested by Captain or OM.
Arranging internal safety induction for all new personnel and repeat inductions as directed in PR-GL-VM-VSL-103 Registration, Verification and Familiarisation
Assist in all health and hygiene inspections to ensure that the workplace is maintained in a safe and tidy condition.
Ensure regular inspection and re-provisioning of vessel first aid kits, eye wash stations and hearing protection dispensers.In addition the medic can be asked to assist the OMT with general administrative duties onboard the vessel.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Appropriately qualified Medic / Registered General Nurse / Doctor
The Vessel Medic should have specific training in relevant professional fields such as Trauma Medicine, Occupational Hygiene, Occupational Health, Diving Medicine ,Food Hygiene, Counselling.
Must possess a Hyperbaric medicine cert/DMT and ideally be a Norwegian/UK registered nurse
valid Medical Certificate
Pleasant disposition with the capability to be authoritative when necessary
Clear and effective oral and written communications skills in English language.
Strong co-ordination, organisation and liaison skills.
