This position is located in the Medical Section, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Medical Section or his/her designate.Responsibilities

A-Clinical Duties:
Ensure smooth day-to-day operation at walk-in clinic; coordinate with outside paramedics in case of emergencies.
Assist in providing health promotion program and in addressing work environment and occupational health issues.
Work with relevant local parties and participate in the evaluation of health promotion and occupational programs.
Refer staff to outside medical practitioners as required.

B-Medical Administrative duties:
Assist the Senior Medical Officers in following United Nations established policies and procedures regarding medical clearances, medical emergencies, medical evacuations, business continuity plans, crises management and medical preparedness, job-related injuries / illnesses and medico-legal issues.
Evaluate, identify and recommend purchase of medical supply and nursing equipment.
Provide in service training to nurses.

C-Supervisory Duties:
Manage, supervise and evaluate performance of nursing staff
Oversee nursing outposts that may be designated in other UN buildings.

D-General:
Performs other related duties as required.Competencies

Knowledge of occupational nursing requirements, treatments and procedures. Knowledge of Public and community health practice including health promotion and programs and diseases prevention. Ability to respond to emergencies, provide first care to patients, and prepare for treatment. Knowledge of major medical office equipment and ability to use them in emergency situations. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.

Education

-Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in nursing is required. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Lebanese National registration and license in nursing are required.
-Advanced degree in Community or Public Health from an accredited university is desirable.

Work Experience

-A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in nursing is required.
-Experience in medical administrative field within the United Nations organizations is desirable.Languages
-English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
-Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Assessment

-Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise, which may be followed by competency-based interview.
